About Us

Pictured with our first Afghan Hounds, we are a very small hobby kennel in Cape Coral, Florida. We have a house that sits on just over one fenced acre. Our dogs get to spend time running free in the yard each day, and spend each night sleeping in our bedroom with us. In short, our dogs are family members and beloved pets that just happen to go to dog shows from time to time!

Khayyam was my very first Afghan, and she was registered as Lesley's Bakhmull Khayyam. Her breeding is Goldmine's Lamu Nights x Sugarfoot's Peach Pit. She was a black masked red bitch and joind our family in 1989. Khayyam is the first Afghan Hound that I have ever had the great pleasure to own, and was my shadow around the house. Now, I have to admit that even though I loved her dearly, we did go about getting her the wrong way. We had never purchased a purebred dog before, and knew nothing of the existance of puppy mills and the problems of buying from a pet store. So, when I fell in love with that puppy in the window, my husband Walter bought her for me as a Christmas present. I have since learned that this is not the best way to ensure getting a healthy, well adjusted puppy, and I would never, ever recommend that anyone buy from a pet store. But, Khayyam lived a very happy life with us. We lost her due to a tragic accident in the fall of 1998. The loss has been very hard. Khayyam, you will always live on in my heart.

We have shared out hearts with many Afghans through the years. In addition to Khayyam, we also remember with great love and tenderness Gandalf, Sesame, Melody, Logan, Kaeli, Savannah and Joshua. We are thankful for the years that we have shared with each and every one of them.

Currently, we are the very proud Mom and Dad to Merlyn - Ch. Aloof Llacue's Enchanter, whom we co-own with his breeders, Linda and Joe Filippone, Jesus Llano and Michael Cuevas. Our thanks go out to Jesus for the outstanding job that he has done with showing Merlyn. Merlyn is a multiple Hound Group winner and was the Best Bred By Exhibitor at the 2005 AKC Eukanuba National Championship.

We also own Merlyn's daughter from his first litter, Sheba - Llacue's Aloof Qadim Desert Moon. She is the first Afghan to carry our kennel name and we are very proud of her. Also, we have two rescue Afghans - Beaver and Alf. All of them enjoy both our yard and our sofa.

And finally, we are proud to be members of the Suncoast Afghan Hound Club of Florida and the Greater Fort Myers Dog Club!
